Dear all, I have a 1984 pickup and I was looking to change my wheels and tires to resemble more of a retro look. I’m thinking a BFG Radial tire with American racing Outlaw II, however I’m not sure what combination would be the most wider/positive offset so that it stays as flush as possible. I was thinking 265/60r 15 with +25offset 15rims 7 in the back and 225 in the front. What do you think? Here’s my truck, I’m painting it black.

How did you come up with your choice of tire sizes?

15x7, +25mm offset should tuck nicely under the rear fenders... with 215/60-15 tires. I used to have 205/60-15 tires on 15x7, 0mm offset wheels and they poked out about one inch. So, +25mm wheels should be flush with 205 or 215 tires.

I dunno if 265 tires will even fit on 7-inch wheels. 245 might be the max. Go to BFG's website and see what rim widths are recommended.

The tire size closest to stock diameter would be 215/60-15.

Finally, IIRC, 15x7 Outlaw 2 only come in 0mm offset...

i've run those wheels on my 86, probably some pictures in my build thread 'Betsy'. And as I recall they were 0 offset on my 15x7s.

The 2 tire sizes you have on the poll are going to be way too tall. Unless you plan on lifting the truck. Stock size on these trucks is something like 195/75/14.

    a 245 will be somewhat square on a 9" rim, 225 is pretty square with a 8" rim. 205 is closer to a 7".

what retro look are you going for exactly? Because the sizes you mentioned are something like a 70's muscle car with the back tooted up with air shocks and Yosemite Sam mudflaps

*side note* Cooper Cobras have the raised white letters also if you're looking for a slightly less expensive tire than the BFG
