Its only a couple of hours away but if you were to hep do all the body work then its worth it. Plus i want to get out of cali its been awhile since i have.
okay Bern, gimme a tip how to cut out and weld in a sheet where my rust hole is... (the common one behind the left rear wheel on the bed! lol)
grind/sand paint off. find where its good metal and cut out the bad. make a patch out of the same gauge steel and contour it to match. fit patch with NO gaps tack weld in slowly, avoiding heat build up. grind welds down, and bodywork. something like that.. lol
i've been planning this little mod for about a year now... decided to start it today since i was super bored.. lol hard to see, but it's the 73 glass on top of a 84-88 glass didn't take a before pic, so here is a reference pic of stock glass
mainly i hate small back windows.. lol i like the fish bowl look when trucks are at shows. it's much easier to check out the inside
got the 2nd side cut and tacked back together. and started filling the gaps in. it's a bitch forming all the metal to match the stock channel.. lol
Wow all I have to say is good job man. I can't believe this was my first time lookin at this thread don't know how I missed it but glad I checked it out an went thru every page haha
Thats cool. I thought about doing the same. Only transfering another window channel to the cab. I kinda like the mini window from an interior perspective though.
thanks! if all goes as planned it will be there. right now i still need to fab control arms, and install a narrowed pinto rack and pinion thanks! thanks. i thought about using a 84-88 window channel, but it would throw off the look of the cab. they are smooth and then drop into the channel. my stock window sticks out more at the bottom then at the top. to make it look stock i decided to stretch out the channel.
Amazing work man.... you are very talented craftsman!! Do you plan on extending the rear quarters and roll pan as well?
thanks for the compliment! i'm going to be changing the whole rear of the truck, so the entire back end will be changed. it won't happen right away though as i want to get it running and driving first. my neighbor has a 56 chevy bel air, and he thinks i should use the tail assemblies from that year, but i'm leaning towards a entire scratch fabbed rear with custom made lenses.
oh damn! just like that the plans have changed!!! thanks! i'm gunna start lookin for those taillights!!
started on the valance this afternoon.. gotta add end caps to the valance and reshape both fenders. also going to cut a design into the valance and recess it in to match the grille i'm going to make.
today i started making the fenders match the contour of the valance. this is as far as i got before i was baking in the sun.. lol
