ok maybe youze guyz can help me. When i try to start my truck it just clicks im guessing the starter is plunging but not turning so i did the usual change it out alonge with the battery and alternator so everything is new and the terminals are clean and tight so i try to start it and the same thing click click click but if i let it roll and pop the clutch while turning the key it lines up and cranks so is the wiring from 87 worn out and is not able to push sufficiant voltage to the starter and its time to do a harness or is there a relay i can change or do a push button to bypass the key cylinder??????? let me know what you think maybe one of you have had this problem already?:shrug:

Check your grounds. I stopped having odd electrical issues on imports once I started grounding the shiat out of them. I build a harness with minimum 10 gauge stereo power cable that ties the body, engine and frame together along with an extra off of the alternator.

Yeah sounds like ground.Bench test your old starter with some good wire.Make sure it's still good. Also check the plug going into the starter make sure its good. Maybe wiggle it while someone tries to start it.

Maybe run a wire straight from battery to starter?
Hopefully someone else can verify if that will work..

only other problem I could see is with your ignition switch/tumbler wires.

It has to be the relay. Check if your getting any power to the starter signal wire.. If not bypass the relay and bam problem solved

Must be the relay. Check wiring and continuity to relay then replace

Could be bad (weak) starter solenoid. Have your starter checked at Autozone/Pep Boys.
