Now you need to get that flame thrower kit that the ricers use. That would be cool looking

Woot! Was at the junkyard today and found a very nice 73 Hilux, very decent condition, super sad to see it in the yard, as well as a pretty clean bullet side 620, also sad.

But I did use that opportunity to snatch up some bits. I got a new headlight relay! I also snagged a working hood latch so my hood closes now lol.

I also snatched up the chrome door trim, looks tits!

But the 73 was way clean if anyone needs something small.

Ok so I have question and something of an idea to run past you guys.

The 20R has 2 ports on top of the valve cover, ones a breather the other goes to the carb. Under the port from the carb is something of a baffle plate, so here's my idea.

On the underside of the RB's valve covers we see similar baffles but they're oil baffles that distribute oil to the top of the cams. What do you guys think of doing something similar here?

No need. Pressurized oil gets to the valvetrain.

If anything, oil squirters in the block to the bottom of the pistons. But isnt needed at all. :doah:

Edit-the 4.0 SOHC ford engine has tubes over the cams that do the same thing. Micky Mouse looking.

Must be why its on a nissan motor too, LOL

Ok, im stumped and I need help.

My tail lights just decided to quit working.

Now I had them wired incorectly the first time, when I clicked on my lights there was no running light it just went straight to brake on, then if you hit the brake the turn signal came on lol. Ok so I backed the truck in the garage to rewire them using OEM clips from the junkyard and now I've got nothing at all. Using the lame ass chiltons I got a while back I checked the fuse and did some wire tracing. I guess there is a second fusable link that gives power to the brake, horn and a meter so if it was that my horn wouldn't work no? But It did so now im stumped. Decided to look around the cab and noticed when I hit my brake now the dash lights come on... WTF! I also thought maybe it was the switch, changed it with a spare and same results. I also thought about the clip that seperates the harness to the rear portion and I got voltage, hmmmm...

    I got nothing else.

What I have right now. The lights are wired in. But basically starting from scratch I have no rear markers and the license plate lights are just clipped. I have a white wire with a black trace and a green wire with no trace that have a male and female end (marker light?) and after the plug I have a green wire with no trace doing nothing ju,ped from the back side of the plug terminal (plate light?)

It has to be something stupid, it was just working, albeit not correctly but it lit up.

Short from telling me to get a magical unicorn to keep in my closet and help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you might have something crossed somewhere,,,,
Green, taillights, side markers, license plate lights
    Green/black, left turn signal
    Green/yellow right turn signal
    Green/white, left stop light
    Lt Blue/white, right stop light
    Lt Blue/red, backup lights
    White/black, ground
You might check that everythings in order at the large plug under the wiper motor where the rear harness plugs in, if that checks out color wise and power wise then the problem is in the rear, good luck

    77 hilux?
I too think the pipes are sweet...Actually the truck itself is!:waytogo: So when u gonna get a sound clip up? I'd love to here how it sounds. Kinda thinkin bout doin side exit on mine:shrug:.. Yours has one sexy stance to.

Now your wiring issues sound crappy.. Best i can do is look at mine in the morning( if its not raining) and see if i can help.. I know my horn doesnt work...

Also on the headlight film, does it reduce the brightness of the highbeams?

    Keep up the good work.:waytogo:

Thanks Nook, that should help a bit :waytogo:

    Haha thanks dude!

Actually the zokusha pipes are on the quiet side because of the muffler i put on, we have really terrible exhaust rules around here that are based on visual appearance even though they say they aren't, douchebags. But at some point after i think i make a big enough fuss about them, because I know ill get pulled over if i decide to roll around with them on, ill pull off the muffler for stage 2 of the project set to really swing into motion sometime next winter i reckon.

On another note, I think i may have solved the issue with the lights, possible ground problem. I got the running lights back, no brakes or flashers yet, could be the relay and the pressure switch.

EDIT: Oh and no it doesnt seem the yellow hurts the high beams at all.

Woot so I got the side drafts in thanks to six7one KDR:waytogo:

They did start so thats awesome but they do need some moderate tuning and some velocity stacks, having a tough time finding them.

But that brings me to my next question, any one have some tips or tricks to tuning them?

P.S they're TEQ Mikuni-Kogyo Solex carbs, not sure what they came off of.

On a semi-related note are theyre any adverse effects to dumping the carbon canister below the wiper motor?

Thanks Pred, I call it "Electric Mt Dew" lol.

And as for the oil cap when I bought the truck the PO, Tim, supplied me with a motor from a 78, that was the valve cover that came off it. So it would lead me to think it was some sort of late model option, only fits that valve cover, and its the only one I've ever seen.

Ok, thinking of going a different direction with my truck.

Anyone interested in my wheels? 17" D2 Starforms, JDM wheels.
