BOOM! Here I am! Hey Asha'man, where do you live? I can really hook you up with a nice little under bed c-notch if you are local enough. I sell any item separate if that's what someone wants. Glad to be a part of this forum guys, I like this older stuff alot. Alex and I are good friends and have spent many long hours revamping his whole truck frame and depleting the soda machine while working till 1:00am on a Sunday night...............twice.
aaahhhhh the countless hours just flew by................................ right up untill i ran out of Dr. Pepper
just seeing your muffler, i dont like it pointing at the gas tank! i dont have a muffler you guys!!! =D LOUDDDD
Just added some info into my profile and sig. Always good to have! Unfortunately I'm nowhere near you, Beefed - Colorado's a long haul from SD. Sucks, cuz I've seen a lot of your work over on CT - good stuff! So a notch....I'm thinking weld-on is the best for strength. I do have access to a welder and good welders so that's not a big problem. What all's involved with the notching process, any relocation of mounts or anything? Cost of a notch kit from you? Hijack over - I need to start my own damn thread! Feel free to browse the user forums on specific topics and jump right into making a build thread man . . . Hijacking is punishable by death in some countries : )
Wow, punishable by death. That's hard core! I just read this entire thread! (wifey's in bed ) I had the chance in person to see his newly lowered/lower truck! It's definitely tuckin' some tire but as far as the cross member's and stuff go, I wouldn't say they are ridiculously low, just typically low. Totally drivable. Here is a shot of the cross member we bent up for the rear of the cab area. This was originally going to have the lower 4 link bars attached to it too. This bend was more of a challenge than square tubing. The off road fabber in me likes to use round tubing alot, I think it looks good. And Asha'man, your pretaco frame could'nt be easier to notch because it's already fully boxed and you just need to cut the frame and weld in the lower piece. You could do the round pipe cut in half style or a flatter style with a bump stop that screws in. (I'd send the lower pieces w/bumps cheap if you wanted) I chose to use a bump stop on my notch's because I think static trucks should have something to bump out on other than metal if it ever does. (like a load in bed?) anyways here's his cross member and we'll have some more pics of truck surgery soon. And I still think we need to make a skid plate for under that gas tank! Something slim.
Here are a few more pics of some previous fab work we did when we (Alex ) depleted the soda machine at midnight....I love Dr. Pepper but sometimes you just want a water!
Some great looking stuff right there! I just keep having visions in my head of this bada** fuel cell, maybe in a round shape, not like the usual square stuff, but to keep the round theme going on Ide think it would be killR' because as clean as it is, the tank there just scares me personally knowing that protected is good ( fuel tank skidplate ), but fabrication is kicka**. Keep up the good work guys . . .
hhhmmm, I like that fuel cell idea. How about round and polished aluminum !! But then he would have to make his bed floor clear because one thing about making all this nice frame stuff is it sucks to cover it up with a bed!
Beefed, your welds look incredible. Where do you and SDyota do all this fab work? I'd like to cruise over and bench race!
Thanks a bunch man, I appreciate that. The welder was really working great that night...no attitudes. Up here in O-side is where the shop is. It's my friends shop and I do all my fab work and build my stuff that needs to be welded. Let's cut something up on your truck and you can get a great birds eye view! I need projects bad! My work is very affordable. Thanks again.
So as of late i think my truck has taken a modification vacation........ but, the debts are slowly washing away and a little extra flow is coming back into play so..... with that i got to tinkering with a few items. for one....... i solved the annoying brake light bulb fade. since i have clear lenses, i didnt want a temporary fix to where i'd have to keep repainting the outsides...... so a buddy of mine came up with the idea to paint the insides with a special "anodizing" paint from Dupli-color. its a red "anodize" immitating paint that actually gives off the impression and/or look of an anodized part. i masked off the surrounding areas of the inside i did not want painted and sprayed away. this is what the lense reflected with just the red bulb in place......... almost nothing. now this is with them painted with. no lights on. with running lights on. with brake lights on. end result......... a less likelyhood of a cop looking at it immediately thinking it does not "reflect enough red". since ive had an issue with clear tails in the past i figured i'd take an extra step not only to make sure i dont get pulled over, but also make it apparent to other tail traffic the brakes are commin on
sweet!!!! about time we get to see somethin new, we seen more of macs truck lately.. hows his coming along too?
thanks..... yeah, i finally got a day to myself and decided to get hot on my truck to get stuff done. im also ordering my front poly bushings kit tomorrow morning and get on that too. my front strut bar bushings are shot and squeak all the time Mac's truck is coming along nicely. he's got on polishing, waxing, and pulling dents out now.......... and most importantly, now since all the minor issues have been sorted out he's now enjoying driving it!!! he actually got to go on a cruise with customtaco's san diego group a couple weekend's ago too and from what i heard he was ryding on cloud 9 the whole way
yea, i got the bil's put on today and those made a HUUUUUUGE difference in the way it drives. cant wait to get the front end suspension all buttoned up.............. cus i also picked up a rear swaybar off a 89-95 4Runner im gonna try to link up to the back of the truck
i was out of a job too....... thus why my truck sat in the current state..... then once i did get a job, i had to dig myself out of the hole i was in. im just now recovering (6 months later) no income sucks!
