Small update. Got the battery checked yesterday and its good. So it made me think of wtf else could be the issue. Decided to check the air gap on the pick up coil in the distributor. To my surprise the little tab on the pick up looks like it was not cut straight and the gap on all but one spot was massive. Filed it flat, regapped it and the bitch fired right up.

had my wife check it this morning when it was colder, fired up first try. So i think i may have fixed my starting problem. Time will tell

Nice! I would've kicked myself in the head if I swapped the engine, when all I had to do was file the points even.. hahaha mannnn, good save!!

I'm starting to wonder why/how this issue started. Hopefully they were just loose and mis aligned, which got corrected when you filed and reset. Temp does play a small part in conductivity and I think you were at the brink of that spectrum.. hope this issue doesn't come back.

It must have been the shitty quality of the thai repop i bought that i didnt notice when i first installed it.

i honestly do think the lower temps we've had here in the morning may have played a part in it but i doubt its anything that wasnt taken into account when the truck was engineered. 40° Temps aint that bad

True that. These things are over engineered.

Not sure wtf is going on with my truck but nit didnt start this morning AGAIN. I will say that the one thing all my starting issues have had in common in the MSD box and my distributor. So in the spirit of trying something else I ordered a Pertronix Ignitor to replace the pick up coil and MSD box at the same time.

idk if its going to help or not but im doing it anyway and hope it works. Il post the MSD box for sale soon of anyone is interested

I'm not sure pertronix will work. A points dizzy has lobes on the shaft that opens the points. The little pickup ring you get with the pertronix sets in place by the lobes.

Haha. Yea ignition systems can get pricey quick! I planing on keeping tht setup under $500 from coil to ecm. But then, tuning will be limitless. To a certain degree..lol
