Double check your compression again, make sure that a gasket did not let go. Change of weather sometimes adds to the failure of the head gasket. You know the basics so I'll not go over that again, I know you know what your doing.
Thats a good idea @74RN22 parts should be in tomorrow. Il do the compression check before swapping the new parts in
i really dug those mag wheels you had! could use some offset adjustment, but any specs on that whee/tire setup? American racing makes a set that is pounds per wheel lighter than what I am running
I wana say the mags were 14x6 with -20 negative offset. i really love the Enkeis just wish they were wider BUT for $50 the deal was hard to pass up tires on both sets are 175/70/14 Kumho
Did a compression test on friday. It was cold but i did put some oil in the cylinders, results are about 145 on each cylinder. Installed the new coil and plug wires aannnnnnnnd nothing. I have a strong feeling i may need to replace the pickup coil in the dizzy. If that shit doesnt work then im going to send in the MSD box to get checked.
Distributor advance works with the vacuum and the distributor internals move to advance during acceleration and your distributor plate is currently moving freely, correct? I had to rebuild mine once and add lubrication to the bearings.
ok, I'm out of ideas, looks like you have identified the fault. Distracted, just had a friend stop by with bad motor mounts which we just finished replacing both of them, tighthen his alternator belt and I told him his Celica required Strut mounts since both sides of his have worn through. A few more hard bumps an his strut and bearing will be banging on the bottom of his hood with the chassis riding on the springs alone affects steering and corning. Not cool, our roads are bad!

Recheck the compression without adding the oil and see what it says...
Everything ive seen says around 120 is low compression, this is the first i see anything around 140. When i did the test dry it read 140 across all 4 cylinders.
Man, you have to solve this soon, my brain is scrambled and driving me nuts because it will not relax over the issues with your engine....
Haha youre telling me! I just wana drive this damn thing. I have a new pick up coil coming in hopefully on wednesday so im crossing my fingers that it works
New pick up coil is installed aaaaaaand nada. Bitch still wont fire up. Ima hit up MSD and see if theyll honor the warranty even though i bought the box thru and auction site. Im also going to pick up a new distributor cap locally. I shouldve replaced that cap a long time ago
Just a loooooong shot idea. Does your truck have an aftermarket alarm that disables the ignition? I hate to admit that's what happened to me. My BIL and I spent a few hours trying to figure out why we couldn't start my celica after an engine swap. Then I suddenly remembered I had to disable the alarm... Back before chipped keys and factory immobilizers, everyone was installing alarms in everything. Maybe a PO installed one as well?
I actually did install an immobilizer and its funny that you mention it because my wife actually brought that up to me last night. I just cant remember if i did a starter kill or ignition kill Its definitely something im going to look at next.
I would look into the msd instructions to and see what they recommend for a coil. Of course they want you to buy the blaster. But Im guessing they have a ohms range listed you should use also.
Ive gone thru the troubleshooting instructions and the box checks out fine. I get spark but just not when the engine cranked. ive eliminated the MSD box and hooked up the Toyota ignition and that shit doesnt fire it either. The MSD intructions ive seen say you CAN use the factory coil so im good there
