I know this is an old thread but, I was thinking of doing this to my 84. Do you notice any big differance with the air intake being that close to the throttle body? You say the afm will unloom and it does'nt have to be cut? Mine goes into the fenderwell so, I think I'll have to cut it.
Wow! It's been a while!!!! I literally just unbolted that plate, and took the switches and put them in between the manifold and the valve cover! Ever since, I've used a 3" aluminum elbow I chopped off some Honda's intake pipe. I also upgraded the negative and positive lines to some PROPER battery cables. Starts soooo much better
Do you have a picture of the wire loom? The truck takes less effort with the shorter intake route. Only thing is that you just have to find a way to route fresh air to the airbox. That's the biggest difference you can make.
battery swap yea,I'm having a hard time finding an elbow intake piece.I'm alittle worried to cut the harness also.My harness loom goes into the fender well and toward the drivers side.I was going to cut it and run it acroos the front of the truck. I'm putting this set-up on mine.
Lengthened my wires & run across the core top behind the radiator. Just do one one @ a time as not to mix up & label them before cutting with electricians labels ( small numbered strips ) come in a book.Solder all & use shrink wrap! The tube I used I got from Weapons-R,but I've seen these tubes @ Auto parts stores. You will need the adapter that mounts the AFM. Should be able to find on E-Bay .
