I got the upper/lower hoses off, they are old but not cracks or holes..when it first broke down i heard a pop and pulled over, popped the hood and coolant was coming from the neck of the radiator and cap area...I tested the cap and it held pressure, but i can't visibly see a crack at the neck where it was leaking, pin hole leak maybe i dunno

    i'll try leakdown test too!:waytogo:

thanks, i looked up the CAV and its pretty pricey....No it never ran hot, was always normal, but I did have to fill it back up with coolant every once n a while, and the last couple of days before it blew when i would turn it off it would gurgle and i could hear it spit some back into the reservoir, so i guess it was running hot huh?

Is anyone running a single row aluminum/plastic radiator? For some reason i'm kind of weary of getting a plastic one, they are allot cheaper but aren't most new cars coming with plastic ones now a days, or should i just stick with the all metal?

my radiator in my truck has plastic end tanks and aluminum core. been working well for me but if I were you I would upgrade to a bigger radiator. I never liked the small oem ones that the pickups originally came with. and since you are in AZ get a cooler thermostat while your at it.

If you pay for my plane ticket ill come down there and help you fix the BHG. if you need the extra help.

If your head is in the gutter in that last comment then..... as cartman would say "suck my balls kyle, suck em dry" lol.

But I know what you meant. The 1uz engines complete with trans, ecu, harness, etc are only 650 bucks! if you were not going threw such a crappy time with divorce right now and money (which the divorce will not be cheap) then now would have been a good time for a v8.

messed around more with it, found a missing stud on the exhaust manifold and its leaking from that exact spot....this means a cracked head doesn't it!?

No not always. Do you see any visible cracks. if not then its going to be tuff to tell unless you tear it apart and get it fluxed at a shop. Sounds like you are gonna have to pull that head off either way you look at it from the looks and sounds of your symptoms.

What does the #4 spark plug look like? or all the plugs for that matter....

If your lucky it's leaking @ the freeze plug under the exhaust manifold... But, if your plugs are squeeky clean like they been steamed washed then thats what it is... Coolant steam washing them...

1991 Toyota pickup with 155,xxx miles..Just blew a head gasket for the second time and I don't wanna mess with it anymore..Tons of new parts, new tires, literally 2 weeks old, new radiator, new belts, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ignition coil, OEM Aisin master cylinder, truck was aligned when the tires were bought, drives straight as an arrow. Timing chain, sprockets, timing cover, oil pump, water pump, valve seals, thermostat were replaced and the injectors were reconditioned at AZ TPI all were 4 years ago, when the headgasket went the first time. Tranny works flawlessly I upgraded the shifter socket to a Marlin Crawler polyurethane one, the original had disintegrated and was getting hard to shift, shifts perfect now, also has a new clutch, both of these were put in a year ago

Cosmetically the truck looks good, it has scratches and minor dents here and there, normal wear and tear. the truck was painted about 10 years ago Dodge Viper blue, paint is still in excellent condition, door handles, and tail gate handle are shaved, tail gate has also been smoothed out flat with a sir michaels tail gate skin, as well as a sir michaels roll pan. Interior is in great condition and is all custom grey pleather and blue tweed. Lots of other mods email for details

I know you can get a running truck for this price, but besides the head gasket the truck is in great condition, i have a ton of extra parts, plus its super clean! and low mileage for a 91

I can send more pics if needed

    dont do it.

Seen that before... Looks more like water mixed with carbon, if that's oil there no way in hell that motor will run... Just my .02...

Strap in for another HG job bro, it's definetly the culprit. Just cross your fingers the head isn't cracked or water ports corroded.

    You can do it!! :waytogo:

i didnt read all the replise

why dont you buy a new cat and good working 22re drop it in?

for about $1000 you are good to go, you can keep good working parts from it and scrap it to get some money back

since your not it cali, maybe its time for a 2jz?

i'm debating swapping in a 2rz or just throwing in a reman 22re..I kind of need my truck back asap so as much as i want to do the swap i'm realizing its not going to be my best choice right now...so i found a place here in phoenix that i can get a reman for $600, does anyone think thats too cheap? I get scared about quality when all the other 22re's ive been finding are around 1g..

I called the place and the guy seemed very knowledgeable and he says they use all Rock parts and have been for years, i'm just scared that they might be cutting corners since its so cheap, but they came recommended from a member on yotatech.com, not sure what to do
