I was recently replacing the vacuum lines on my '90 pickup with the 6 cylinder. While tugging at the lines going to the canister purge valve the plastic nipples broke off. For the time being I have both ends blocked off. I recently took my truck into two different shops for a hot start problem, and they insist on replacing the canister purge valve before doing anything else. Both shops have said that the intake has to come off to replace it, to the tune of $500! Has anyone replaced one of these without removing the top of the motor?
