New steering wheel and center console! Will be installing a couple stainless steel cupholders soon. Also have enough of the diamond stitch vinyl to do a couple door cards.

For those who wonder, I got a Grant steering wheel adapter that was a 3 bolt pattern. From there you can get a 6 bolt or 9 bolt conversion hub for whatever wheel you get.

Thanks man! the wheel is a little smaller than my last one with a thicker ring. That with the new steering box definitely makes things feel tighter.

Updates coming soon, I have been a little busy working on things.

    key points: cockpit, sound, lights.

...oh, and I got that 5m AFM back on, this time hooked up to the stock air box. Also added a catch can because I found a bit more oil in the intake hot pipe than I care to see. When I removed the old tube between the AFM and turbo I could see that it was dry above where the crankcase vent enters, and oil soaked below. Hopefully that catch can will help prevent oil from blowing into my turbo and intake.

The intake growl is quite nice now, maybe I will get a video up.

Well, it as been quite a roller coaster ride the last 2 days. I took my valve cover off yesterday to spray it wit some wrinkle paint to change things up a bit. When I removed it I found a milkshake mess inside.
After my blown radiator a few weeks ago, I drove around the block a few times, ran the engine enough to set timing and adjust my new AFR setup. So there is less than an hour drive time on the milkshake. I figured it had to be a blown head gasket, and made plans to tear it down.
This morning I pulled the intake, got the head off, and pulled all of the rods and bearings to make sure that nothing gets rusty at all. Upon doing that I found a wonderfully in tact looking head gasket... so where did the half quart of water that drained out of my oil pan come from??
I'll pull the water pump, oil pump, timing cover, and turbo tomorrow. Then I should be able to pull the block out by hand, and start investigating what went wrong. More importantly also, figure out how to prevent it in the future.

I made a list of things I will need to replace, please chime in if you think I missed anything
    -Main Bearing
    -Rod Bearing
    -Thrust Bearing
-Head Gasket (probably going to go with an MLS)
    -Timing cover gasket
    -Oil Pump Gasket

While I am in there, I figure I might as well research a new cam maybe? I was comparing the specs on the cam in my engine, and they look a little wacky compared to other cams that I am seeing online. I reached out to a few companies to see what they recommend. I know cam choice is very subjective, but all I really want at this point is something that will treat my turbo the best for a long time. Maybe that means going back to stock?

My bank account agrees... especially since I opened up my calatog on the page with stroker crankshafts.

Timing chain probably ate up the timing cover because of a broken right side guide.

I wish it was that obvious, but alas no. The metal guides are still fully in tact.

I'm deeply interested in doing a stroker now, seems like a fun thing to do. I also don't want to tear my engine down if it isn't going to end up better after.

The stroker is one of those things on these engines isn't a good route. The increase in power is very minimal and you're way better off going all out on the head. Being turbo its making a lot of power up top. Stroking will lose reliability at high rpms because of the higher piston speed.

Smart words man! I always need that voice telling me not to go for it. I also did some more research this morning, and the great mind of Mosk (Jeff) has some interesting things to say about a turboed stroker as well. Here is one very convincing thread: http://4x4wire.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/716333/Re:_what_about_a_turbo_stroker.html
My head is already worked quite a bit with porting, polishing, and oversized valves. I will probably just get a new cam and forget the stroker. I'm sure that makes my wallet happier.

Came across this randomly on the interwebs. I have always loved that grille, and it looks like it is on the previous gen body. Anybody know if they are cross compatible? I can't tell if it is an actual build or a photoshop, but the fenders and hood are definitely 84-88.

A lot of guys use the 89-95 grilles on the 84-88. Idk if theyre direct replacements but im sure with minor mods you can make it work.

Hell some dudes have put the 92-95 4runner grille and headlights on the 84-88

oh and the bumpers shouldnt be hard to make work as long as you can handle some minor fab

Dang really? I have missed out then. I don't really care about the bumper, that is too low for the driving that I do.
All grilles need is a few zip ties, right?

    Engine is out.
    Parts are coming in slowly.
I'll be sending my injector out to get cleaned and tested. I also hope to pull the transmission out, and get the Transgo reprogramming kit installed. I don't trust myself with working on the transmission, so that I will find a local shop to take care of.

I swear this time of year can make working on your car outdoors extremely difficult
