I love your truck. I may be moving down that way in the next year or so. I would love to see it in person. Also, what's your hourly rate when helping someone get a truck as nice as that one? LOL

    Haha. Thanks.

I think I figured out that the failure was caused by compressor surge upon closing the throttle body, whereas the BOV doesn't seem to be operating correctly. I took the HKS SSQV III apart and everything looks ok, so I'm going to rig up a way to pressurize the pipe and test it with my vacuum pump. I'm wondering if it has a strong enough vacuum source, ie. if the vacuum line is too long, not big enough, or something.

Your running such low boost. I bet it was just miss hap with the thrust washer then ate barings abit from a miss balance

That's what happend from 2 turbos from them

    they cover both thou

I find tubonectics to be dieing turbo company and stuff is slipping by they used to be very big they even bought out spearco.

Well, I'm not running as low as I did before. I have MS controlling boost at 200 kPa and the thrust washer still felt great, no in and out play at all, just the side to side slop I'd expect to see from the surge I've been hearing. I was told that the HKS's sounded a bit like surge, but upon further research, that isn't the case. I'm testing the BOV with a rig I built today. We'll see.

Wow! Interesting. I honestly think that I was getting some surge with that BOV, so I've purchased a different style. And I heard from Raffi at Turbonetics, who told me that it was actually a heat soak-back issue that destroyed the shaft and cartridge dimensions (took them out of spec), which then ate the journals. A timer wouldn't have helped with this, as I don't drive the truck hard before shutdown, and there were no signs of oil coking.

Anyway, he offered to send a brand new water cooled unit covered under warranty, so I can't wait. I miss it so much.

Yep, I can also use my MegaSquirt Standalone to time it. I'm not a big believer in the need for the timer though, if you can control your foot before you shut it down... I don't drive that aggressively anyway.

Looks like I get to convert to a wasted spark setup today!

Part I machined to block off the distributor and mount the new coils.
