sounds about right. With the correct cable adjustment on the A43D, it will always want to shift UP there around 5800rpms, redline that is.
Did you put a transmission cooler in there, if you plan on running auto for a long long time?

Yep. It's been an auto since it was built. And yes, I have a cooler on it. I haven't done the homework yet to see where said shims should be installed. One of these days...

On an A43d? Do you remember exactly which springs you shimmed?

I haven't found a good line drawing for the hydraulic circuits in the A43d.

It's an A43D, not an A340 series automatic transmission.

Honestly, with the cooler and good fluid, your transmission should be good to go. Let that thing warm up and stay cool once it gets to operating temps.
Get that cable adjusted correctly and you'll let it shift without having to lift up. If you have to lift up to shift up, I think you have to tighten the cable, or vice versa.

Completely different transmissions. Hydraulically operated with a governor that runs off the tail end if I'm correct. The only thing that's really electronic on the A43D is the overdrive and reverse light switch. everything else is based on the input speed, output speed, throttle position cable (that's what it really is), fluid temps, and Overdrive switch which leads to the internal selenoid.

Oh, and it'll stay in 3rd until warm, for emission reasons to let that motor warm up. I definitely don't miss that, waiting for Overdrive.

Well, got my new Devil's Own water methanol kit installed. I'm running two nozzles. Wow does that make a difference in air temps.

I'm currently running about 12 pounds of boost with a (still) conservative timing map. I figure it's putting down about 180 to 200 to the wheels right now. I finally decided to build my new head with the oversized valves and dual springs/ titanium retainers, so I'll probably swap that in on Thanksgiving weekend, taking care of a few other odds and ends while I'm in there.

Very nice. Look forward to a couple driving videos and a dyno video. Great work.

Um, no. My current turbo is sized just perfectly. Off the line this one starts building boost at 2300 rpms and is at full boost by 3000.

Besides that, I think the smallest AR T4 turbine you can get on that is a 1.0 or something like that which would make it spool at around 4000 plus on this motor. And I'd have to build another manifold to get it to fit.

Well, as of right now, I don't have the money to buy a different cam. I'm currently running a carbed 22r cam, but unless I can get a sweet deal on a better cam before next weekend, I'll stick with the same. You've got me thinking though....

Did a bit more research, and these valves are only 1mm bigger than stock not the biggest, those would be the 48's that LC has. (These are 46's....)

Yes, I did do a minor port job again. Didn't think to get pics before I reassembled though.

I'll try to get another video up soon. That one was before the water meth injection.
