Have you tried the corona springs on the truck? Is there a drop? Because Dobinsons sells a lowered spring for the corona. http://www.dobinsonsprings.com/site/html/catalogues/coilspringcatalogue/coilfitmentlist.pdf
Do you mind sharing the dimensions of the stock springs? Did you measure the height before you cut them?
I just may have to try this out sometime. Anybody discover any coils that would work as a lift spring? I've had ideas spinning for other projects for a while. Also, an older SAAB 900 rear spring is similar in specs to the hilux spring.
"You will have to remove the swaybar and the lower metal bump stop brick" sounds awsome but does removeing the sway bar make the front end looser or body roll... seems like your happy with it so im sure its great...yourtruck looks good to, i like em' low but with stock rims
My 78 has about 3 turns cut off the front without the sway bar. On a 14 it has a bit of body roll, with 16s its not much. Since the center of gravity is so much lower there isn't any body leverage on the suspension. But I sure would like to get one back in there anyways. I want no body roll. If you notched the spring pocket a bit you could still fit it, and it should clear the front tires if they aren't super wide or high offset.
Thanks, someday I'll get the bed to match the cab. As for the suspension, the front feels real good without the sway bay, and there is actually less body roll now then with the sway bar connected, stock springs, and kyb gas-a-just shocks. I do want to figure out a way to reconnect the sway bar, I just haven't had any time. For the rear, I run Belltech shocks. I think they are really good.
corona springs are taller, have more coils and are way softer. iirc im running stock hilux coils in my corona for a 2in drop.
I'm actually looking into a possible bolt in coilover setup for up front. found a company that does custom stuff and not very expensive. will let you know on an update of where this goes.
Interesting and excellent find! That means these 67-69 Camaro QA1's I've been putting on the Taco's for years should work then...?
Beefed- Do you do anything for the lower control arm as far as reinforcing where the new coilover will mount? Or will the control arm be able to handle it?
