74 hilux 22r/w55 swap

    Actually starts to haul ass but gives up halfway through what would be a proper powerband for such limited displacement. Am sure that a properly jetted Yugo carb would suffice for a motor this asthmatic. On the plus side, the cylinder head is effectively a rev limiter. Must be something to that hybrid thing, 22r heads suck.

    Is pretty quick though, when all is said and done.

    Ya the top end on the 22rs suck. They make great low end power then just give up on the top end. Ya the hybrid motors help a lot with the top end but the long rod setup still isnt helping the situation. When all is said and done you have a fun truck to beat on, but you wont be hunting cars to race on the freeway.

    In all fairness to the truck my last d driver was a VFR 750. 5k rpm feels like an idle now.

    LOL, well ya.

    i'm selling my 73 and my current car now is an 07 wrx sti. I drove the 73 for the first time in a couple weeks yesterday and it felt sloooooow.

    I know this is a very old thread,but my son has a 74 hilux, we just pulled out the 18r, and are getting ready to put in a 22re, I was wondering if you have any pics of how you did the motor mounts , thanks
