Hi Guys, I'm a newbie to this forum and joined since I just bought a '71 RN12. Been looking for one, and happy to finally have on in my garage. Still contemplating on what to do. It runs, but there are some things that need to be addressed before I bring it out of non-op. Since I expect to actually use the truck for practical purposes, I probably won't go as radical as my previous '71 project: Build photos: Celica build pics.... (Car is SOLD) - a set on Flickr But do want to throw in some "fun" in the truck.
welcome to the site. dude that celica is so sweet! nice job. my son is working on one now. we went to california for
DUDE! You built that Celica! Isn't that the one with the S2000 motor and tranny? I absolutely love that Celica! Made me miss my old '77 GT liftback. Also made me want to buy another when my truck is done. Oh yeah, Welcome to TM!
Welcome I hope I can get my 77 half as clean as your old ride. Truck looks straight, whats wrong with it?
Thanks guys. Yes, I swapped a S2000 motor and tranny into the Celica. It was definitely a fun ride. My RN12 has rust holes in the floor pan, mostly on the passenger side, and the driver side is starting to look suspicious too. Want to cut out the cancer and weld in a new floor pan before I hit the road. I have some other plans, but need to gain more info (and money!) before I make any moves.
Nice! I wanted to see some pics of how you did the tranny tunnel. Looks great. I think you should do a f20 in your hilux...
Basically cut the tranny tunnel open, found a doner car and cut a larger section of the same area, widened it a little, and welded it on. So the ribs and design perfectly aligned with the original floor pan.
yea i couldnt imagine the difference, its so cute man, i love the way the bed rounds at the end of the truck...the dudes were amazing who designed our trucks...if only they'd had better grade steel or something, rust is always on the back of my mind when i think about my truck, its sad.
