i had one on fender, it worked some what good.. i remouted it on the pass side on the back of cab...its loud but runs good...check all your lines...

i always pull the carb off and clean or rebuild....check ALL of the vac lines...the slightest crack can cause the ride to run like poo...you can...
sounds like fuel issues...it should idle around 750-900....its pretty simple to just listin to it....idle it down to where it almost cuts out,...
u aint liein bout the scratches..now i got to go over it with something else...i need sandpaper..a bench grinder with buffer n stuff....i got alot...
