Would a toyota (code g i think its called), 8 inch rear axle fit on an 84 pickup? are the 8 inches all the same from the 80s and 90s?
My turbo came with a g code 8 inch rear, and it is an 86'. I don't know about cross generational compatibility.
GO82 is the part number for Toyota’s 8” (3/4 ton) axle. Standard axle has a 7.5” R&P and unequal axle shafts. 8” axle shafts are interchangeable left to right. Everything thing should swap equal. May need different fabric hose setup for brakes. Keep in mind replacement axle shafts for the 8” are no longer available, either factory or aftermarket. Toyota used these axles on early motorhomes. Do not buy a motorhome 8” axle. It will probably be weak and prone to breaking.
Axle housimg swaps would be limited by the spring perches, unless you want to cut and weld. Other considerations would be the length. An '86 4X4 is wider than an '84 and a good swap for an '84 4X4.
