Got everything pretty much welded up. Got a few small gussets im adding to the wishbone that need to be welded on and after that il be testing everything. Should be doing that tonight. Oh and i got a fuel cell on the way too
Something I thought of after I piped my exhaust out is using the old fuel filler for an exhaust exit. Might be something you can look at doing now.
Thats actually pretty clever. Im going to be shaving the filler opening tho. My buddy had a miscalculation with the plasma and caught part of the bedside when we were cutting the floor out.
Got the fuel cell mounted yesterday with the help of a friend. Tested everything already just need to figure out the shock mounts and recheck the travel,(sett it up for a bigger wheel/tire combo out back.) Going to cap off the wishbone tubes with some pieces i got in the mail today.
Kind of took this week away from the truck. I did get some stuff cleaned up and ready for future welding or paint but other than that nothing. I have some new shock bushings on the way as the ones i had on the shocks i had to trim down to fit in the old tabs. also going to order some new upper shock tabs. The little shorties i have arent going to work. So while i wait on parts im just cleaning up the garage and airing the truck up and down for no reason other than to see it work. Il be gusseting a few places and adding bracing in a few spots to strengthen it up some over the weekend.
Shocks mounts are tacked in, got one set of gussets by the front link mounts fully welded on. Got another set by the bag cup tacked in. Getting closer to being "done"
Heck yes dude! That is looking nice! Are you going to raise the bed floor to accomodate that fuel cell and notch?
As of right now everything is just cut out but eventually i will basically reconstruct the inside of the bed. Getting a bed cover for it in the mean time
Got everything fully welded last night, cleaned up the back half and i should be spraying the bedliner on it today.
Bed liner was sprayed last night. Il be going over it with gloss black today to avoid trapping dirt in the texture and im going to respray the link bars too. Hoping to reassemble everything this weekend.
Thanks bro. I keep trying to update this even when it aint pictures. and just used some duplicolor aerosol bed liner. Actually has a nice texture to it and if i had actually taken my time to spray it it wouldve been better
Thought that’s what you were spraying it with, I love that paint, just shoots out the can super fast for good control. Coolest use of it I’ve seen was on TV truck show where they sprayed a roll cage with the bedliner for texture, then silver metallic, then a transparent red - result was textured silvery red on a budget
Didnt even think of that! Its a lot more work than i wana do on that back half at this point tho. I wana just get the shit done at this point
Got a good amount of work in this weekend. Mounted the 3 link and bags. Re-ran the fuel lines, brake lines, and wiring to the back of the frame. Got the power wire ran to the back of the cab as well. Got the air lines roughly ran to each bag. Clamped everything that was ready to be secured. Wednesday im Hoping to drop the bed back on. And get the air management mounted and plumbed. Also theres a good amount of shit I just ordered from summit that im not waiting on.
Got the bed on today, plumbed the fuel system, shocks mounted, mocked up the air management and fired it up briefly just to hear it run a little
I really like it, its super flush but the tire actually rubs the bedside at certain points in the down travel. Raise it an inch and its all good.
