I have a 1985 single cab 4 speed. Just rebuilt the motor and fixed some of the light bulbs. Started driving it to work to save some gas. How do i get the e brake light to turn off? I pull the handle twist and push into the dash to dis engage brake but the light never turns off? Another thing is the tach for the mph has a loud tick to it and kinda jumps around. How can i fix that?

There is an electrical switch about 8" inside the dash that you can see looking up at the handle. Make sure it's plugged in. If i remember right if it's unplugged the light won't go off.

The speedometer cable is most likely just gummed up. If you unhook it at the transmission you can pull the cable out of the housing and clean the old grease off of it then relube it with chain and cable lube before putting it back in.

The brake fluid on my 87 was low, topped it off and light went out.

    Good point!

There is a float sensor in the cap of the master cylinder. Should b a pigtail/plug coming out of that.
