Does anyone have any first hand experience with Zoom clutches? (Smoothness/pedal pressure/durability, etc.) The reason I'm asking is because I need a new clutch to go with the motor I'm swapping in and the local parts store happens to have one of these in stock. It's a decent price, but I don't know if these clutches are any good or not. Here's the clutch I'm talking about: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ZZZ-HP47628-1A/?rtype=10 Any insight would be helpful.
good clutches, ran it in my truck for a while. if the store your talking about is advance auto and the clutch is around 100 bucks its still a zoom clutch but not a race clutch like you see there... advance auto has the best (zoom) clutch for 100 bucks unless your pushing boost you dont need anything more then that
i had a centerforce clutch it would shift smooth n would hold real good now i have an exedy n its all right but i recomend the centerforce.
i am going to put in a LuK Pro Gold i know some guys that own a tranny shop and zoom is not that great customer service sucks ass
I usually just run a stock 4wd clutch. Never had one slip launching on the bottle, and they seem to last quite a while..
^^ Is that with slicks also? The pressure plate that came with my motor is supposed to be a HD 4wd diesel unit; I was also considering just getting a new clutch disk and calling it a day. I'm also getting a lighter flywheel regardless of whatever clutch choice I make.
no, not with slicks, I never ran slicks on my other truck. I launched HARD on a stock 4wd clutch, though, with zero problems. I ran a 28" tall tire on steel wheels. I'd hold it between 3-3200 rpm, side step the clutch, it would spin about 4 feet, rpms start dropping to ~26-2800 as it starts grabbing traction, at this point I'd nail the nitrous and hold it till ~6200, shift at 6500. All this even AFTER a smokey burnout.Clutch never slipped. This was not done on well prepped track surface. it was done on normal blacktop, pavement, tarmac...whatever it is that streets are made of these days.
