alright so my name is Hector and i am 16
I absolutely LOVE these trucks i learned to drive in one i was brought home from the hospital when i was born in one of these trucks and now it is going to be the first the first vehicle i own hahahahaa.. basically ive been into cars my whole life i used to follow around my dad with a tool box and i would hand him whatever size socket or wrench he asked me for when he was working on his cars..alright that was kind of off topic hahaha so this is my situation in a few months or as soon i come up with the money i am buying my brothers toyota pickup off of him because he wants to buy a "new car" hahahahaa
my plans are to get rid of the leaf springs and torsions and fab in a front and rear suspension from a supra i am really into drifting and yes you guys can talk smack but i want to go LS i love v8's due to the simplicity and the availability of parts and the easy reliable power. i know there are some people out there with some really fast 22re's but i dont have the money to build a turbo engine especially while im still in high school hahahhahahaa.. but those are all future plans due to my lack of money for now i want to buy lowering blocks for the rear and lowering springs and also some stiffer camaro drag racing shocks for the front and i also saw a thread on here were some guy put mk3 supra spindles and brakes up front and gave him a 1 1/2 inch drop and bigger brakes i am also interested in doing that..

Ok enough about me heres the truck. truck the whole thing.jpg

If you have pics on the computer click the paper clip in the symbols right above where you write your reply and click browse select the file and click upload, you can add 5 attachments per reply that way (thats what i did for my build thread) im sure others will chime in as well. Welcome and i like the rims on the truck. I wanna get some rims similar for my truck. Good luck on getting the truck and fixing it up

thanks! the wheels are circle track wheels you can find them on summit racing they are actually cheaper than replica "nascar style wheels" the only thing about them is that they are not DOT approved.. whatever if nascar trust them at 200 mph i can trust them on the highway

Nice looking starting point. I'm 25 and still have the first truck I got at 14. Won't ever let it go. You have a good build plan, and I like that you are realistic that the crazy stuff comes later. Drop blocks and cranked bars will provide years of fun until then. As for loading pics, a site like photobucket works best. Then just copy paste the link tag to your reply. Thats how they load full size on pages without being clicked on.

Welcome Hector! I've had my truck since I was 16 and I'm proud to say that it's 32 years old.

    Have fun with your projects!

If you are looking for side money, rounding up scrap metal locally can be worth the effort. Apartment complexes always need to get rid of the broken hot water heaters and washer/dryers. Craigslist has a free column and people put metal stuff up there a lot. If you make a few hours effort every day you can turn it into a fun little side gig. I used to do it with my 78. Don't be afraid to load it down heavy either, the engines can take it. I had a 1400 lb load of cast iron in mine before. Went up the hills like it wasn't even there. I have a built motor though.

Another way I have gotten my metal is buy the biggest chevy and dodge truck radiators you can find at the junk yard. If brass pays better than $1.50/lb and the rad is under $30 you will make a profit. Some dodge rads weigh over 60 lbs with the steel taken off by a large hammer. The large wire from the battery to the starter is a good chunk to grab too. Fill a back pack full of that at the junk yard, tell them you are wiring some amps or lights or some bs. Get it cheap then recycle it. Leave the insulation on, it pays a little less but adds to the weight and ofsets nicely. Much less work too, just take it in whole.

I think I speak for the majority of the site here in saying this. I think it is awesome that a young kid is starting out and trying to do it right and ask the people who know these trucks inside and out. I feel like its our responsibility to pass the info on to the younger generation. I remember getting mentored by a few older minitruckers when I was young. This is a good thing :D

Make sure you take the steel off the radiators that are brass. A hammer and vice grips is all you need. The hose spouts, side brackets and pet**** are usually steel. Check with a magnet, that's all they do.
