Is a 73 valance identical to 76?

 

yes they are. pretty much the entire frontend, except the grille.

 

Can't say for sure, but my old parts manual shows 2 different part numbers, 72-74 and 75-78

 

I believe they are different... I think the valence has to come down lower @ the top for the 76+ style grille... the prior grille doesn't dip @ the bottom like the 76+

You can see how the grill is a little off, but it kind of highlights the bottom of the older style grille on what appears to me as sitting above the 76+ valence

 

Interesting question. I'll go out and eye-ball the one on my 77' and 72' and see if there is any difference. I think I have a tape measure somewhere...

Definitely different.

Valance on my 72' is definitely different than the one on my 77'. There wasn't even a need to use the tape measure, you can eye-ball it and see the difference.
