    Hello,

I'm a new member with a a 1987 toyota short bed with a 22rte swap. I seem to have followed Pertano and Blazinrolla over here from toyota3tc.com. I'm a corolla lover and I bought this half done project truck from a young guy who intended to turn it into a drift truck. She has plenty of issues that are being ironed out now.

Against my better judgement about not buying second hand unfinished projects, I bought this thing for $1000. What makes it worse is the fact that this is a 3rd or 4th hand project and the motor is partially dismantled.

Turns out, the head is NA with a couple of stripped threads on the exhaust side. The block has the oil return boss so I assume it's a true turbo block. The AFM is for the 5mg supra. I was able to get it running as is just to check the oil pressure. I attached the afm directly to the intake and it started on the second try. Oil pressure was great.

The wiring also needs a good going though. I'm currently tearing down the motor to install new gaskets. I've never worked on a 22r so this is new to me.

    More recent pics to come.

Out of curiosity, what kind of suspension setup would one use on a drift truck? 4-link rear with coilovers all around? or were they planning on sticking with a leafspring setup?

Looks to me like you got a good lil truck to do some wrenching on and I have no doubt itll turn out to be a beast. Good luck with the buildup and hope to see more and hear more in the future. Welcome to toyotaminis man !

    Thanks for the welcome.
I have been steadily working on her.
Replaced all the engine gaskets including the headgasket. Added some color.

The interior was bare when I bought it. Also had some rust issues in the floor.

Luckily most of it was surface rust caused by the leaking windshield. I did have to cut out one bad spot.

Test fitting the 4runner carpet and toyota fx16 seats I got from the junkyard.

I will coat the entire floor with POR-15.

    Well,
I finally installed the turbo. The previous owner removed the oil feed fitting from the block and lost it. For weeks I tried to find a fitting that would work but had no luck. My solution was to use a banjo bolt. I cut the feed line fitting off and connected the banjo bolt style fitting to the feed line with a swage connector.

I then spent 2 hours trying to bolt the oil lines to the block while still attached to the turbo. HUGE FAIL!!!!! I could not line up the banjo bolt threads into the block with the turbo attached. So, I install the lines first then bolted in the turbo. 20 minute job!!!

I need to modify the downpipe to line up with the turbo. She sounds like a beast with the open downpipe.

I have a turbo truck and once you go turbo there is no other way,be careful of too much pressure or do you have the stock turbo?5-7 psi.good luck with all of the work ahead.

Welcome! You sure are making good things of that truck! Looks sweet! I like the 22rte. I have a 7mgte in mine and it has lots of power. But the 22rte sure would be a fun ride!
