Has anyone successfully done this? I have a 87 Xtracab 4x4 with a rusted frame and also have a solid reg cab frame. Just wondering how hard it would be?
alot of the rock crawling will do this. but you need to move the back cab mounts and well have to bob the bed to fit.
Here is a pic of mine back a few years ago. It' was a 4x4 cab on a SB frame with 9 inches cut out of the front of the bed. I had to move the rear cab mounts back and beat the floor up in the X-cab to clear the horse shoe crossmember.
Thx for the info guys. I'm not worried about the box, I realize that will be different, but I did some quick measurements and the cab mounts are all different. Would it just be a matter of changing the cab mounts and then modifying the box or are there other issues?
I cut the rear mounts off, bolted them to the Ex-cab, then rewelded them in the right spot. Nothing to it, I had to weld a piece of plate to the frame to take up the space of what was cut off the mounts.
