Im currently in the process of getting my single cab ‘91 pickup RWD ready to paint and Ive been curious about swapping grilles and recently the ‘92 grille has caught my eye. Ive been looking back and forth online comparing the two different grilles and everything looks almost the same but I’m not 100% sure if it’ll fit perfectly without some fabrication or replacing the bumper and parking lights. If anyone has an answer of some sort. It would be greatly appreciated!!
*pics, more details. But yes it should just fit; whether you need to move the lights, you tell us (*misread the question, shouldn't have to change the bumper see next line). The bumper..prolly good, not familiar with any challenges.
..and with a little research I found everything you need on Rockauto as usual As I'm sure the bumper should be the same, no worries; and any grille should work as there are various models and trim, the underlying structure is the same! Even if you go cross-generational it might be that a bit more zip ties are involved. But on a serious note, everything has been done, and folks don't find to much difficulty, with only minor mods or install fabrication, also know as part of the fun! What grille option are you interested in? What does your grille look like now?
AFAIK they’re basically interchangeable between 89-95 on the pickups and 4Runners. Some people even swap between generations of trucks, they fit well enough to look good.
Im going to assume you're looking at a 92-95 4runner grille. That will need more work and different corner lights than the other 4-5 options available
im reall late on replying to this post but this is jow it came out. I stuck with the same grille i previously had, but got it in chrome. Still got a lot of work in the process but this is the foundation so far
That truck is coming out nice!! Wishines was this straight!! Haha I'd need about 2 gallons of Bondo to get it to look this good.. hahaha
I also think that for resale value, the best choice is to go with the original stuff the truck/car comes with. Adding or subtracting anything starts to limit your market.
