On the under side of my 22r intake, there is a plate bolted to it with a single wire coming out of it. What is this, and is it necessary? I have already deleted all of the unnecessary vacuum lines and egr stuff and would like to do away with this also.

    Thanks

Been so long since I looked at one of those, but if memory serves me right it has bothing to do with cold start sensors ect, its a heater that heats the water under the intake plenum to aid in cold engine driving until the engine comes up to temp, you can unplug it, but if removed will have a water leak for sure unless you made a block off plate for it.

Ok, thanks for the answer guys! I'm not sure if I'll block it off or not yet.

The only reason I can see the need for a block off plate would be for engine swapps, "22r into something else" that doesn't have the correct harness?

By unplugging the connector to the heater its dissabled and doesn't hurt a thing leaving it in place, the block off plates sold by LC are for the Offy intake manifolds, which more than likely doesn't have enough room to fit the heater up into the bottom of the Offy intake, by not using the heater it just keeps the carb base cooler which makes the fuel cooler which adds a tiny bit of power by making a denser fuel mix.

Ya, after looking at it a little better, I realized it doesn't affect the air/fuel flow and decided to just snip the wire off and leave it in place.

    Thanks again
