ok so if i want a cluster with rpm in my 93 p/u which currently has a 22r i would need an cluster from another either 4runner or p/u with a 22r of the same generation correct?? ok cool.... BUT, i plan on swapping a 1jz-gte in the very near future so do i still use the cluster from the 22r or would i need one from the v6?? i'm guessing the v6 but i just wanna be sure...

i actually might be putting in a 2jz-ge for now and doing the 1.5jz setup later on...

Get whichever one you want, just make sure its from a 92-94 truck or 4Runner with the electric speedo (vs the cable). The tachs on these can easily be adjusted to work for 4cyl or 6 cyl. I would suggest getting a V6 one since they are easier to find.

My 93' has an electronic speedo and there is no place for a cable to go on the back of the cluster. its all connected with the plugs.

Exactly what Partick said above. Since your truck is a 93 its going to have an electric speedo, so an electric speedo 4Runner cluster will be plug and play, youll just have to get the electic speed sensor for the 1JZ if it doesn't have it.

FYI JZ coilpacks and other engine distributor pickup signals aren't interchangeable. I know from the cressidas and people swapping 7MGE (dizzy) to 7MGTE (coils) needing to solder in a few bits to the back of the cluster to make it work.

To get my tach to work on my 7m I used the MSD tach adapter...

i wouldn't be surprised if its jut a matter of soldering in a piece of wire in order to get the tach working... just like the cressidas
