i found a set of rsx wheels on CL and was wondering wat i will have to do to get them on. my buddy has a set of tl wheels that we test fitted today and i dont know if the wheel we were using was bent but the lip on the inside hit my zerk fitting on my upper ball joint. i was using 1/4 inch spacers too. any help would be appreciated so i can make a decision if i want them or not. heres a crappy pic of the tl wheel
When I was running Lexus IS300 rims on my truck I had to get a set of these for the front to keep the rim from hitting the upper ball joints. Im still using these on my truck now with my probe rims. Ive got 4x4 fenders on the front of my truck too & they tuck with no hittting/rubbing issues. http://www.ezaccessory.com/Wheel_Adapter_5_Lug_4_5_To_5_Lug_4_5_p/5450-5450.htm *the ones I have on my truck...
damn thats pretty cheap. every local tire shop around here wants at least 2-300 for a pair. how thick are yours? do you have any pics of yours? i wanna see how flush your wheels sit
Ive got the 1-inch on my truck & here are a few pics of the white 17's I had on it a few months back & the 16's that are on it now... & As you can see even with the 1-inch adapters/spacers they still tuck & all my clearance issues are gone.
I had the same probe wheels on my 78 for a while. Different suspension. Tucked great though. Fronts were bored a hair to fit on. Didn't hit the upper at all. Really close though. Find out the rsx center bore of you look at them up close. I kinda want a set. Or s2000 16s.
im not sure if the tl have the same center bore but i know they will need to be bored out a little bit
ok so i just looked it up and the center bore is 70.3. wat is it on our trucks? i googled it and no one had couldnt find anything
Front wheel drive wheels are called hub centric the center wheel opening is smaller and on most use the it to locate it.
Had the same problem too. I'm running Lexus wheels on mine and had them bored to fit. I paid 80 bucks to get my (4) rims bored. If you're only rubbing the on the Zerk fitting, you can remove it and plug it. install it back on only if you need to regrease. The good thing about the rims you are wanting are that the centerhole is 70.3. Our Toyota's are 67.06 so you'll only need to get some hubcentric rings. I think rings are only a couple bucks. Hope this helps!
cool. so i wont need to run any spacers? the TL wheels i tried seemed to hit the hub befre they hit the fitting so i put on my 1/4 spacers and it helped till they hit the fitting
If you're only rubbing on the Zerk fitting then no. Hub centric rings is all you'll need to pay for. Your spacer will only help push the rim out for clearance on the inside. Going bigger on spacers, say 1.5 or 2'" spacers, you'll start having clearance issues towards the outer such as fender lip rubbing and firewall rubbing. This is assuming the truck is lowered. It's all in personal taste and how much money you want to spend.
Dumb question here... it lists options .... 1/2" Thread Studs or 12x1.5 Thread Studs which would be correct?
oh ya. also wat will happen if i dont get the hub centric rings? will i just get vibration at higher speeds? and do i need them for all four corners or just up front?
just great thundering i think you killed this thread. lol jk but i would like to know wat would hapen if i dont run the rings. anyone know??
probably nothing... Hubcentric rings are intended to relieve the stress on the lug nuts. Since spacers are used, the wheel would be pushed out away from the center hub making the rings useless. Are you running spacers on all 4 wheels or just up front? Since your center bore is bigger than 67.06 then you could use the rings on the back (if not using the spacers on the back). You would only have "peace of mind" on half of the truck. So it's really up to you. Godd luck!
oh ok. well i just found out that they are 16s but thats ok. i liked the look of my old 16s and now i dont have to get new tires. thanks for your help macawilial
