    Hey y'all
I'm looking for some info on what would be needed to swap in a W55 transmission to replace my 4 speed on my 1975 longbed.
The transmission is out of a 22RE 94 extended cab 2 wheel drive pickup.

    Known issues will be...
. Cross member fabrication ( I think I can figure out but always open to suggestions)
. Electronic speed sensor ( not sure what to do)

Unknown issues...? Everything else lol Hopefully someone can chime in.
    Thanks in advance

I don’t know a whole lot about transmission swaps but there may be need to figure out where the shifter comes through the floor on new vs old trans; may have obstruction like a bench seat in the way

For the speed sensor issue, perhaps use an aftermarket speedo that uses GPS

Electronic speed sensor? Just put in a mechanical unit, or get an electronic speedo> Digital LED dash cluster?!

I did a swap in an '80, all I needed was a steel plate to adapt the bolts. A 1/4" flat stock steel. Trans came out of a Celica, if you get a trans from a truck it may just bolt in, not sure. Get out ye olde trusty tape measure.

The transmission is a 2 hour drive so I'll get the seller to measure the distance from bellhousing to shifter for me and compare.

For the speedometer id love to use the original. just wondering if there is a gear that drives a sensor that could be swapped for a mechanical one. ill have to cross that bridge when i get there. I currently use a phone app for kilometers (Canadian) anyway.

I was under the impression that if you are using a W series transmission (W50 w55 w56 w58) and have the bellhousing for that transmission it will have same bolt patter and overall length and would fit any 20R 22R 22R-E. But that's why I'm here. To get all the help i can.

I was talking about the rear mount. Measure from the bell housing to the rear mount bolt holes. The 20 and 22 R have the same bolts pattern at the bell housing.

Could always go with a Speedhut 4" speedo. Swapped mine out, fit like a glove and never looked back.

Is that a GPS speedo, or did you adapt it for a toyota trans.?

GPS speedo, the 4" fits the 72.5-78 trucks perfect
