junkyards best bet...depending on what you pull it from you are going to need a bellhousing for a 22r from any w series trans to mate em together... if you already knew that though ill stfu lol edit: im retarded thought you were looking for a w58 here is a w50 in riverside http://losangeles.craigslist.org/search/pts?query=w50&srchType=A reedit: found a w58 for 175 down here...
Someone should tell that guy a W50 is a 5-speed! I found a W56 here in the portland area for $30, that's almost the same except for 1st/2nd gear..... it's aluminum but I think it's the same case.... not sure though... $30 is nothing to scoff at. http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/pts/1892433253.html edit: the W50 and W55 don't use the same bellhousing. Found a cool website for the info: http://www.aeu86.org/index/ae86/cat/9/topic=4156/post=66576 - kinda spells it all out.
Thanks that was help full. So I need a w50 and 1g bellhousing. Bellhousings for T and G engines seem to be compatible. The Japanese GX51 Cresta has a 1G with W50 gearbox. Any W50 and this Cresta bellhousing could be used behind a 3T-GTE. The 3T-GTE normally has a bellhousing for a W55 but can use a 1G bellhousing (clutch slave on other side).
I am fairly certain the majority of 1G engines ran the alloy W55 style box, not the steel case W50. You may need to look overseas to source the correct bellhousing, they are worth virtually nothing in NZ or Oz. One other option (depending on the power you intend to run) is the 6 speed from the Toyota Altezza/IS200 that runs the 1G-FE engine, details on http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/ for this swap. Callum
I have a bellhousing for a w58 from the 7.gte or whatever that supra motor is,... Will that work for ya?
i dont know where you heard that, but i got a w series bellhousing on my w58 right now... all the w5x series are interchangeable...i was just asking if you needed the bell housing that will fit a w58 to the older supra motor cause i dont know the mounting pattern to the engine you are useing..
the pattern on the front of the gearbox is the same for W55/56/57/58/59 and the G series alloy Hilux and Hiace boxes (G52, G55 I think), a sort of tilited over oval shape. The older steel case boxes (W40, W50) have an almost square bolt pattern with only 4 bolts. You can sort of see it here. Your issue is getting the bellhousing to fit a T or G series engine, the other end should be relatively easy to source. Depending how carried away you want to get though you can grab any T series bellhousing and weld it to the bellhousing from whatever gearbox you get, just need to be very accurate. Callum
thats pretty much what i was trying to say, but better. whats the bolt pattern to the engine you are useing...my transmsision guy has waay to much crap in his storage area not to have something that will work ya know...
Not sure on the US, but New Zealand or Australia the rarity would go like this - G to W55/57/58 (get sold for scrap, no one wants them) T to W40/50 (seen a few floating around, come in TT132 Corona in NZ but not sought after at all) T to W55/57/58 (factory for the 3T-GTE, getting hard to find) G to W40/50 (never actually seen one) Try Toymods or even http://forums.toyspeed.org.nz/ and see if you can get someone to ship one to you, try to get the clutch fork with it. I have two of the proper ones for the 3T-GTE but neither is for sale and haven't seen any of the others local to me lately. Callum
