i finally got around to adjustin the valves on my truck and changed the oil. this didnt help the ticking much at all. truck runs great it just makes a ticking sound id like to get rid of any help?
were all of your rockers hitting straight on the valves? specificly #2 n 3 exhaust? the rocker spacers will wear away and give you a good tick, you can get replacement spacers at the dealer, and there are snap on ones avalible so all you need to do is take the valve cover off. id also check your exhaust side timing chain guide, common isssue (every 100k or so) and it will tick real good.
could also be your timing chain guides..if you havnt already replaced your timing set with new metal guides you might want to check it out..as soon as i replaced mine the tick went away
any one know what the lash is on intake and exhaust valves on a 20 r fine tunein so i can do some fine cruisin!!!
**** i think i got that same lil tick, hate it. time to go over my whole truck now that its in the garage for some much needed TLC,
what do you mean by the spacer?? it has a 175 and i doubt the timingchain is new ill definatly check it tomorrow. the intake .20mm exaust .30mm
My 93 was doing the same thing- I pulled the cover and adjusted the valves several times. I finally saw that the inside of the valve cover had marks were the rocker arms were hitting on the oil tray.
mine didnt have any marks on it just gunk. i think it need some serious cleaning the oil tht came out had alot of gunk. ill fut injector cleaner in it and look for somthing to put in the oil. then change the oil agin
i pulled the valvecover back off and rechecked the valves no problem there. i couldnt tell if the timingchain was wearing or not it wasnt loose. is there a certin thing to look for on the chain?
