I have to hold the gas a bit after turning my truck on for it to stay on and every time I switch into drive, reverse or any gear it turns off, if I hold the gas peddle it stays on untill I let go and then it turns off. Any reasons why it might do that???

Any air leaks between the VAFM and throttle body, to include no vacuum leaks?

I'm positive your TPS adjustment is also correct, how about the idle valve and timing?

Nam has ya on the right path. Vacuum leak or throttle adjustment. Does it still idle smooth or shake around? Could be a weak spark plug or burnt wire.

I'ma sound really dumb saying this but you guys lost me, I've never been this confused about my toyota. I sent it to get fixed after it had overheated on me and the head had to be worked and they replaced anti freeze, oil filter, spark plugs, cylinder head gasket, valve cover gasket (set), manifold gasket (set), belts for a/c fan and alt and power steering

I would, but if you couldn't, it sure sounds like a vacuum leak.

They may have missed something small. Have the shop that did the work take a look. Could just be a loose vacuum line on the intake or something unplugged. Is there an idle speed adjustment on your throttle body? They may have changed the adjustment. Or changes in the throttle cable.

Yea its a screw but before I owned the truck my uncle "fixed" it and broke it or something and apparently used silicone to screw the screw in so I'm not to sure on that, I'll take pictures later
