maybe you guys can help ... I'm building a Toyota Trekker .. 3.4L supercharged .. the "full meal deal" it's basically a stock type 79-83 4X4 .. but with a fiberglass rear back 1/2 .. it actually the "proto type" / "test market" vehicle for the 1ST toyota SUV in North America . so ...... my delima is should I go stock or custom with the body ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/1982-Toyota-Win...ItemQQimsxZ20081219?IMSfp=TL081219119006r8715 just for looking at, there is a pic of the brochure with the specs for it.
yes , but the shaved cowl , and the shaved drip rails are very suttle .. heres where I started .. a few months later a year later and my delima !!!!!!! some pics of custom , you get the idea , cuz you know what stock looks like . this way I could run 37" tires easy .. (These fenders are for a customer in Alberta .. I just "threw" them on the Trekker just to see !!!! and it got me to thinkin' , hence the delima ) ...
that looks sick. jmo, don't do anything you cant undo. Thats the way i'm building my car since it's an all original numbers matching car.
i never know their was such a truck??? looks pretty cool. i like the stock look but it looks like you guys deal with salt a lot so fiberglass fenders might be better.
quite rare actually .. Trekkers were the 4Runner prototype .. Toyota wasnt sure there was actually a market for such a vehicle , so they decided to "test" the largest market on the planet .. North America . Toyota Motor Corp. enlisted Winnabego to make the Trekker from plans toyota supplied .. fiberglass back half . My shop is building moulds , to resurect the Trekker . .
Bless you I might look into this. I had a 78 blazer and loved the thing. till i traded it for my toyota. If i could have a mini version of it, it would be AWESOME! What parts will you guys be offering? Can you get a 79-83 and change it to an accurate replica of a trekker?
the long bed wheelbase is 8" longer on the long bed so you would probably have alot of modifying to do.
