It looks like I am about to buy a white 76 with 90,000 miles on it. if i do get it, crossing my fingers, i will eventually put a turbo 3rz in it. it is an sr5 with a 5 speed tranny. my question is this.... is it likely a w series transmission?

If your going the turbo route you should look into the 2rz engine, handles boost better than the 3rz

I have heard that. if it happens, crossing fingers once again, it'll have forged internals and the head will be built. the price on a 2rz is a bit cheaper. i thought about a 2rz and bore it out a little but i've also heard there is a problem with the amount of head gasket surface betwen cylinders if i was to do that. is that true?

Yup, 3rz's bottom end tends to blow up! lol Go with the 2rz and you won't regret it.

Im not to familiar with those motors, but there are quite a few guys on here that have done the swap as well as boosting them.

Try the searching it on here there are a couple of build threads on it

I gots no truck, for now
Personally I would just put a w58 in it, so it wouldn't matter what it comes with or the mileage on the motor since you are swapping it anyways.

i just wanted to see if it was gonna be strong enough to hold up to what i'm wanting to get out of the motor. i'm expecting 550+hp. if i've got to search for a w58 then so be it.
