I have been researching tranny options and have come accross some things that I can not get answers for. My 1994 pickup has a W55 tranny. The W58 would be a virtual straight accross drop in with a little bit of work. What about the R150/R154 trannys? I have a friend that is running an R154 in his IS300 making well over 500whp and it holds without any issues. Questions: Will the R150 swap straight over? How much hp/tourque can the W55 hold reliably? Is the R150 the same length as the W50/55 series trannys? Everyone seems to use the W55 trannys and not the R15X series transmissions so I'm curious. I'm asking because I don't have a W55 and R154 to sit side by side to check myself. Any help would be greatly apreciated.
If i remember right you can use the gm trans if you swap the bellhousing for the toyota one. Think you need an adapter for it though
