transmission problems

    i am having issues with my 1986 toyota hilux 4x4 transmission. the problems i am havins is that the 5 speed manual transmision will not shift and stay in 1st gear also 3rd and 5th gear there is a chinging soucd in them. i have no idea if the trans is going bad or if it could be something hopefully minor going on with it.

    Gotta drop trans to know for sure. Could just be clutch problem. Check trans oil, look for shavings. Make sure your flywheel didnt come loose.

    if it's only 1, 2, 5 and not 2, 4, r I'd suspect the shifter bushings first. lot easier to check them than drop the trans on a 4x4

    what if in 4th and especially 5th gear the speedometer jumps to 60-70 mph and bounces all over the place?
