1989 22re rebuilt crate motor. TPS is unplugged, truck runs but extremely high idle RPMs. When the TPS is plugged in truck revs, idles, revs, idles, revs, idles, revs, idles, etc. What might the problem be?
Moisture/Water in the plug maybe. Mine did the same thing after a good pressure wash. Pull the plug with engine off and make sure it's dry.
Check the idle air control vale(IACV) located directly below the throttle body.Clogs in the lines will cause this. The rev up and down is the ECU being tricked into killing signal to the injectors thinking you are coming to a stop.First try doing a trouble code test.A constant 1-1-1-1-1-1-1- code would mean there is no electrical issue. The IACV is a mechanical component and would not read a trouble code.
I agree with iac valve also check the throttle plate for carbon build up and make sure it functions correctly!
