Hi, Have a 4x4 surf that I,ve lowered running 20" rims still not as low as I want but it'll do for now, question is I've wound down the front on the torsion bar and its a very stiff ride, its that stiff it does'nt even hit the bump stops
Any ideas what I've done wrong

Are you absolutely positive that it isn't hitting any of the bump stops? Just because it doesn't sit ON the bumpstop doesn't mean that it doesn't hit it, even driving over small bumps and such.

Any contact will make the ride rough. I'd try lifting it slightly until most of the problem goes away, and then see where it sits. If you can't live with that height, then either live with the rough ride, or get drop spindles if they are made for that model.

2wd and 4wd have totally different suspension configurations. Trade your truck for a 2wd if you want to lower it. Or lift it. Unless you feel like cutting it up and performing some serious frankenstein fabrication.

Come to think of it, I know a guy that tried that a few years ago. He ended up swapping the front half of a 2wd frame into his 4runner to make all this work.

Don't want to dump it in the weeds would just like it to ride a bit better but still keep it low :(
On the 2wd they do a b/j flip now I no its different on the 4wd as the b/j is attached to the stud axle but how about flipping the bracket on the bottom wish bone that attaches to the b/j ??? This way I could still keep the ride low but take tension of the torsion bar
