To paint or not to paint and rust repair

    I like the look of the original paint, you can kind of see the stripes still which is cool. At the end of the day its your truck though!

    Most of that is plastidip that the PO did the original is the rust stained white and the hood and roof are turning to a more ruff rust

    If you don't keep it garage kept, then you'll want to deal with the rust before it eats the panels. While this answer sucks, sand blasting will give the best result. paint stripping wheels for grinders do a good job, but they wear quickly. the rust really needs to be gone before you can repaint. Then you can do a good metal prep (eastwood or por15) and rust encapsulator (primer with zinc).

    just another thought: primer is not a sealer. so if you clean it up and spray primer... don't leave it in primer. primer is porous and will hold water and you'll have the same problem after a few rains.

    Yeah I don’t think I have much a choice but to repaint . Is anyone making the stripes for this year truck I like the rn28 decal

    The passenger sides pretty rough I’ll get some pictures tomorrow I haven’t gotten a good look at the driver that rubber they have glued is really on that side

    Check the area under the raintray. I had a leak there and caused rust to form around the cab mount as well. Thankfully I found a rustfree cab and used that to cut and weld in new metal. I've considered just covering he opening in the raintray so this issue never happens again.
