you can smog illegally for at least 200bux. or swap newer USDM supra engine same year or newer then you truck leave it all stock with all the CA smog components and try and BAR it at a station

yea....... if you wanna stay smog legal in cali (booo!)smartest thing to do would be to find a donor car....... not sure what power you are looking to get but you can find the 2jz (non-turbo) in just about any sc300 you can find or any IS300 newer lexus.

the older 2jz produced around 200hp. the newer vvti version of the 2jz produces around 230hp i think.

if you were looking for the turbo 2jz you will have to find an actual 98 or older supra that has the turbo motor and swap all the essentials to keep it legal.

but, if you are in a county where smog is not required unless you sell the vehicle, and are not required to biannually smog the car after you smog it once..... buy the 4runner, smog it once to place it in your name and look for whatever 2jz you want in it (n/a or boosted)....... :waytogo:

Its a PITA to get a BAR label these days here in cali. Your best bet is the donor car as mentioned but, it has to be usdm car. The JDM built donor cars are not the same so if you bought a jdm clip your screwed. I would go with the 1uz just because they have very little smog stuff and are easier to find emission stuff for as well as price being cheaper. still great power, good swap, and saves the wallet.

But if you have deep pockets then go big :)

my parents used to do that with their trans-am. but when my mom was pulled over and the registration was different than the license she was ticketed.

i can only imagine the ticket would be worse in commifornia!

i'm lucky that i live well outside the emission area. i'm doing my share to **** up the air! lol
