I have an 84 Extra cab with power windows, drivers side works perfectly fine, but my passengar window, doesnt hardly work at all, with the switch on the drivers side, it wont do anything. But the switch on the passengar door, tries to roll it up, but wont roll it down.

I tried checking all of the connections, and everything seems to look good. I was hoping someone here might be able to help me determine whats wrong?

    Thanks in advance,
    Cody

but while the window is shut, the motor bumps, and tries to move up more. so i dont believe the motor is bad. also, you can hook up a cordless tool battery to a pair of wires and make the window move.

What can go bad inside the switch? i pulled it apart and see how everything works, and it all makes contact like its supposed to. But wont move the door

Switch: The contacts inside the switch can break or they could be dirty which means they aren't making good contact..

I work on pinball machines and old arcade games and this works sometimes. Go to radioshack or an electronics store and get some contact cleaner. Pull the switch and spray the conact cleaning inside of it and move it back/forth and allow it to dry out. If that doesn't work replace the switch.

after pulling the rockers off and seeing all the contacts, it seems like they're all fine, and i can short across all of them to the ground, and it sparks and draws power, even on the passanger door. telling me that they should work. i'll try cleaning them out and see what happens, thank you guys very much, i appreciate the help

turns out there was a pin on the plug just inside the drivers door that had managed to get pulled out of the plug. i pushed it back in, and they worked like brand new

Try putting a 12volt source straight to to wires from the motor, this will sort out a little!
There's a door relay in the wiring( think it's on the passenger side,up under the dash ). It has timers & a lot of didoes, ect. in it any of which can fail, though rare!
Motor or broken /lose wire would be more commend!
