i have a IFS truck with the factory 4.10's i believe and i was wondering if the third member from my IFS will fit directly to a 1984-1985 toyota straight front axle with no problems?

here is what i got from your question: is that you have a 4wd truck around and you want to take the third from that and put it in your 2wd..... and i would believe it should built in due to i know the 4wd has a 8" diff... run the axle codes and if the first digit is the same for the axle code it should bolt right in..

The IFS truck uses a 8" rear and 7.5" front third member, the rear unit will fit the straight axle but the front IFS unit won't.

This might help. Answer this: Can I use the front 3rd member from my 1986-1989 4x4 as a replacement for my front 3rd member for my 1989-1995 4x4?

No can do... As previously stated IFS 3rd's are 7.5" whereas 79-85 front straight axles are 8"....
