has n e one done a front end disc brake conversion on a stout?? and change out the rearend to different drums? since brakes for a stout are STUPID expensive?? Please HELP!
havnt found any conversions...sorry. i swapped out my rear axle for a ford 9" so i cant help ya with the rear. The stout control arms and spindles n just are only for stouts...which all had drum front ends..
Yea thats what i was figuring!.. im not too thrilled about that!.. oh well.. the frame is all original, and in perfect shape, so i never felt the need to swap it out.. but now that ita gettin bagged i kinda wish i did..
yep you cant get anymore "in seattle" then where i live. send me a pm when you come up, you can tour my fleet
Nice! ill be there the 12th-15th of august.. goin to Puyallup?? if you see any billboards in your area that are red and yellow and say "we buy ugly houses" the friend im goin to see owns that company there and i work for the same company here.. ill def hit you up when i get there
ok the 5 lug swap on my wagon has turned into "i need a custom lower control arm" so F it, when the time comes ill build arms and use the supra spindles i originally got for it. so this weekend im gonna attempt a disc conversion and ball joint flip on the stout. details sun or mon...
according to my parts guys, the ball joint stud did not change in taper or thickness from 65-95. so in theory this should be bolt in. we'll see how it works out. for the record im gonna use 78 hilux spindles on a 67 stout
ya, but i think the stout spindles are waaay tall or something werid like that, i havnt looked at mine in a while, makes me depressed..
I sure hope it works easily for ya this weekend! im about to order some brakes all the way around and if i can do a conversion id be all for that!!! So good luck!!!!
um not yet... see i got this bad ass radiator to put in my wagon and mounting the fan proper is a bitch. still not done the second its out of the way the stouts going in, promise. should be this weekend, ive now got busting the suspension down for the swap to a science, just wish it would of worked easy on the wagon.
How bout now? I got my front end up and ready to break down or order new shoes.. id rather break it down and get some spindles and rotors.. did it work did it work??
im currently waiting for my land lords girl to get her lazy ass up. then can grind for about 20 sec and finish up the fan. im working on it, just slowly.
sorry recent devlopments have kept me from touching stout #1.... i now have 3 more stouts... updates to follow, but be patient i live in the city have 7 project cars and only 4 dedicated spots. life is tricky. at a min i will test fit both 77 truck/hilux spindles and mkII supra spindles on stout control arms. keep in mind that any disk brake upgrade needs a new master/booster/distribution block setup , ive been fancying datsun 620 master/boosters, there small and look kinda old skool and goofy.
