So I was looking at my oil pan on my motor swap and my steering damper is gonna hit the cast part of the oil pan. I know I have to notch the oil pan itself but I cant notch the cast part. So Im thinking of dropping the one side of the steering damper mount to clear the cast part of the oil pan. Will I have any problems with the damper by doing this?
The oil pan is stamped steel. You can dent it with a hammer for clearance, cut and weld it for clearance or as you said move the end of the mount.
NM, I just went through your whole build thread.... Nice work man! Looking good! Wanna notch my truck? lol
You can lower one end or both without any problems. That'd be better than removing it altogether. With it totally removed, you may notice pulling one way or another from ruts, bumps, or puddles, depending on your offset.
I decided im gonna lower the frame mount instead of removing it. Itll have to be at least 2" lower but we'll see when I get the new damper
