Looked at 100 images of our gen trucks with 89-95 bumper and valance combo. I have noticed a few bumpers extend past the wheel arch towards the wheel. Is there a certain combo that matches the wheel arch best? Or anyone have side profile shots of the different combos? I can't decide what I want to run. Either a chrome 87-88 4wd bumper and valance, or a 92-95 4runner 4wd bumper and valance. Maybe even a 89-91 bumper. Will a 2wd valance match up to a 4wd bumper? Yes I have searched, I have looked at every thread in 19 pages that might have pertained to bumper swaps in this exterior section. Just looking for a little input.
I think the 2WD valance is a bit narrower than the 4WD. Also 2wd and 4wd fenders might have something to do with it.
When installing the 89-95 bumpers, do they all have a gap between the grille and bumper when looking from above?
I used a 92-95 4-Runner bumper & valance & welded the two together. This in conjunction with 4x4 fenders, the bumper lines up with the fender nicely at the wheel well opening & fits tight to the upper portion of it all the way around. I use a narrow piece of weather stripping between the two.
TRUCKACTION isnt that the early bumper/valance combo? 92-95 had a plastic valance. Or did you create some badassness and not tell us about it?
The image of the mini with the Nissan wheels is the look I am aiming for. Seems flow perfectly IMO, however I don't know if that is the 89-91 or 92-95 bumper. The second image of the side shot, appears the bumper extends just past the wheel arch. This would bother me, so I want to stay away from this.
I like my stock bumper....So i haven't done enough research, but you will notice that the truck you like, as well as TRUCK ACTION's truck, there is a dip in the middle. The one you DONT like is flush on the top.... So, there are different variations between 4WD, 2WD, truck, 4runner, as well as model year. I believe custom brackets are required to mount the newer bumpers, so im sure if you played with it enough you could space it out and make any bumper sit flush with the fender well.
I couldve sworn i broke this down on another thread on this forum with years, models, and pictures. Only thing is guna be visualizing on a 84-88
