Long story short... Had a lengthy build thread a few years back with tons of pics that just disappeared with no excuse. At that point in time I was pretty much done with this forum and was loosing interest in the truck as some Kid rear-ended me at a red light destroying the bed. Now that I'm getting settled into my new house, I've started working on the truck again, in hopes of finishing what was planned for it and possibly more. Anyhow, here's where I'm at. All new poly bushings with 1 ton torsions and sway-bar. More to follow.
Can one of the mods delete the broken images above? When trying to edit it doesn't show broken images to erase. Thanks.
Here's another part I plan on installing when suspension is complete, front to back. The box also includes the bigger master cylinder needed for the big brake kit.
Looking great, can't wait to see more! I also had a build on here years ago and I'm thinking its time for another.
Got home tonight and somewhat finished the front brakes. Then installed the wheels and dopped it down to ride height. There are no shims up front so an alignment should bring the lip in a good bit. If I remember correctly from test fitting, the lip should be close to flush when all said and done.
I guess I need to mention that everything I touch is either Powder coated, Painted or Cerakoted. It's been like this from the get-go. if I'm taking a part off and putting it back on it makes no sense to me not to clean or refinish it. Here's a pic of the front end parts. Strut rod housings, U-bolts along with cross member all Cerakoted a dark gray. The strut rods will be red to match the torsions and sway when I get time. Inner and outer tie-rod ends painted as well. It would be nice to find a Billet adjuster threaded 17x1.5 and 4 3/4" long so I don't have to use the factory adjusters.
Pic from down below. This thing's been built for several years and I've yet to clean up/re-finish from A-arms forward.
And finally... A memory refresh on what was a $700 truck to begin with for those of you who was here a few years back. Maybe someday I'll have time to reload all the pics, but for now these will have to suffice. Remember, this this hasn't been cleaned in months and the speedo shows actual mileage since I rolled it back when I built the engine in which I have plenty of pics of on my other computer. I have a few mods in mind for the little 2.4. I plan on simplifying it a bit. Maybe a swap in the near future the more I think about it.
If anyone has a driver or passenger seat/seat cover out of a 4-runner that matches my seats I'm in need of one that's not worn on the edges. Also, there was a rear (behind the seats) cab interior cloth cover/panel that was made for these trucks that I'm looking for as well. Although it's pretty rare. I've only seen one and someone here ran across it years ago.
Sad to see this site dying a very slow death. Much more to update on but Damn... Is it worth it? These trucks have so much potential, not to mention they're becoming classics that carry a ton of engine swap options..
There are new posts/comments on a regular basis. Is it as actuve as it was a few years back? No but there are many other forums out there that havent had any action since 2012. Still my favorite forum
Haven't been on here in forever but had to say truck looks great! Super clean! Makes me want to get back working on my projects. What part of Atlanta you from? I'm down in Macon Ga
Come on now, man. None of that crap! Like others have said, traffic has gone down, but this is an awesome truck and I want to follow it's saga. Kinda like JBlaust's and many others from years ago. Plus, ever since PhotoBucket decided to break the internet, there's a huge need for current builds.
