Earlier this week, Ford announced that it was a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/01/ford-to-increase-production-by-10-in-third-quarter/"bumping Q3 production by 10%/a, and now Toyota is getting more aggressive still by adding 65,000 units to its Q2 quota. The Aishi, Japan-based automaker plans to add production to its most popular models. The Camry, Corolla, Sienna, Tundra, Tacoma and Rav4 are all going to see more action during the summer months.br /br /Part of the reason for Toyota's optimism is due to the Japanese automaker's May sales. On the surface, sales were putrid, with a a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/02/by-the-numbers-may-2009-gm-and-ford-surprise-edition/"decline of 40%/a versus a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/03/by-the-numbers-may-2008-f-150-falls-edition/"May 2008/a. But last May 2008 was a far better month for Toyota than it was many of its competitors, making the 40% figure a bit misleading. Toyota's sales actually increased by 21% when compared to April 2009.br /br /[Source: a href="http://www.autonews.com/article/20090603/ANA05/906039997/1176"Automotive News/a subs req'd]p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/04/report-toyota-sees-u-s-turnaround-in-sight-plans-to-boost-pro/"REPORT: Toyota sees U.S. turnaround in sight, plans to boost production/a originally appeared on a href="http://www.autoblog.com"Autoblog/a on Thu, 04 Jun 2009 09:32:00 EST.
