hey I am a noob, so it is probably a dumb question. I am trying to remove the helper spring on my rear leafs. How do you get the bolt/pin out of the middle. This is only going to leave me 2 leafs, I guess that is ok? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

Mine is an 83 pickup first I took off my drop block then I unbolted the bolt that holds the leafs from the tail end so they can hang. After I got vise grips on the top round bolt to it wont move while I unbolted the bottom hope this helps :waytogo:

BTW Just making sure you take the middle one off thats what I did so I was left with the one that actually bolts and a medium sized thick one.

I tried vise grips, I put some pb blaster on it hopefully that frees it up. Mine has 3 leafs 2 full length thin that are banded together and what looks like a rivot in the band, and one half length thick, you pulled the middle one? I don't want to lower it a lot it is just all jacked up in the rear, I just want it level, and soften the ride a little. I don't have any idea what it looked like stock, or if it is indeed the stock setup, it has a shackle at the back, I will get some pics and measurements up tomorrow. thanks for the help. :)

I got one side done, thanks for the help. I know what you mean about swearing, I ended up pulling the whole leaf and taking it to my basement so I wouldn't scare the neighborhood children.lol I couldn't get vise grips to hold and used a pipe wrench it worked fairly well. I replaced it with a bolt, a little smaller diameter( I used a vise to keep the springs in line when I tightened it), the head just fits in the locating hole, so I think it will work fine. Thanks again :)
