ok so heres where i am at.....becausei got rid of the 98 4runner and went with a different project i can now run 22's....but i was building the frame for 20's....so now at full drop on my front suspension the steering would require drastic notching of the frame rail to thepoint of affecting strength.....so my options are slim...i have been researching changing to heim joints instead of traditional tie rods on both rack side and spindle side.....the issue is i need to mount the tie rod from the bottom of the spindle instead of the top....the toyota spindle has a 7deg taper from the top....is there enough material to ream the spindle to a 10deg taper from the bottom and not compromise the spindle.....then i will use a heim tie rod stud from speedway motors......or should i just drill itout straight nd use a high grade bolt....just wondering if anyone has any experience flipping tie rods on the pre taco spindles....dont wanna spend a ton of $$$ on a reaming bit and it not even work then i am out a spindle and money for the bit....here is a pic of what i have to overcome....BTW i will be moving the upper arm up an inch by adding a piece of 1x2 to lessen the camber
Hey give me a call tomorrow or whenever you get the chance. I have a creative fix for this issue, semi cost effective too. Don't care to share with everyone though. The cheapest route however would be to rebuild the front clip with the rails placed higher, similar to this.
